“Beauties of Jewels”, that’s the essence
September 8, 2009 | 1 Comment
It’s great to see the first “Talking Jewellery” article at the blog where all my experiences & interests will be connected! You will find all kinds of information regarding jewellery from all over the world. Information about exhibitions, events, fair trade progress concerning the jewellery industry, court jewellery, relevant jewellery business news, designers and books. As well a list of addresses of art academies, craftsman schools, jewellery societies, gem testing laboratories and even costume jewellery information.
The aim is to introduce you into the world of jewellery in the broadest sense I can possibly think of & guide you literally through the world of jewels. Hopefully with a weekly up-date of only interesting items. Showing you where to go; where you can find beautiful museums, education, marvelous “hidden” shops and jewellery web-sites which I like. Besides that you will find many links (only nice, good ones) that you will be able to expand your view.

So, it’s about jewellery made of all kinds of material, from recycled material up to gold and platinum, with valuations of all kinds of gradations, but all with one similarity; I like the design! I’m interested in the beauty & conceptual ideas of jewellery from Ancient times, The Antiquities up to Contemporary design. And I love gemstones…colouring jewels in a precious way!
I hope for the nearby future to show you photos of jewellery from talented artists and children of the developing countries. I am working on it!
But…I have one big, typically Dutch, deviation; I love to cycle! So, hopefully within a little while I’m going to tell you where to do so. Believe me; it’s the best opportunity to learn a certain city. Within some hours you have the total overview of a city-centre, having seen the nicest jewellery areas, smelt the real daily life, picked a terrace or museum & stopped for a nice “hidden” shop, lunch…and before you know it you will become a “cycling jewellery addict” like me as well! But..first things first, so this chapter has to wait a little while. Meanwhile take in consideration that in almost every “self-respected” European city you are able to rent a bike. My best experience so far; Paris! (www.parisvelosympa.com) and of-course Amsterdam!
I am a certified gemmologist & independent jewellery expert, and my goal is to take you with me on a trip through my world of jewels & I hope you will take my advices with you on your trip through your world.

Ps. Please allow me to make some grammatical mistakes…I am Dutch & this is my first weblog experience!
