“At the Russian Court”, Palace and Protocol in the 19th Century, Hermitage Amsterdam
December 15, 2009 | No Comments
Exhibition open until 13 January 2010.
Portrait of Tsarina Alexandra Feodorovna, by Nikolai Bodarevski 1907
This spectacular exhibition with impressive pieces of jewellery next to the most beautiful gowns, “daily life” garments, photos, paintings and objects gives an extraordinary impression of the 19th century Russian Court protocol. Which was about “splendour & pageantry”… it was a real joy for my eyes!..and my ears as well, because the audio-tour also was very interesting.
